TIGER GROOM

Includes the style cut with complementary bath, blow dry, superficial ear clean and nail trim. Baths can only be performed if your cat allows, cost will remain the same with or without a bath.

  • The Tiger cut will even out your cat's fur to the same length all over.
  • 1/4 to 1" length of fur depending on how short or long you prefer.
  • Standard Tiger cut length is Blue but you can go shorter with Purple or longer with Brown or Yellow.

Not available for matted or aggressive cats. Cats may need a strip-out/de-shedding of any dead undercoat prior to clip.

LION GROOM

Includes the style cut with complementary bath and blow dry, superficial ear clean and nail trim. Baths can only be performed if your cat allows, cost will remain the same with or without a bath

  • Traditional Lion cut leaves a full mane, a plume on the end of the tail & furry boots.
  • Body is shaved very short. Optional tail styles available.
  • Basic Lion cut includes taking the mane area shorter to match the body.
  • Completely customisable – this is a popular choice for long haired cats with coats that are easily matted and hard to keep clean.

VENTRAL/HYGIENE GROOM

Includes the style cut with complementary bath and blow dry, superficial ear clean and nail trim. Baths can only be performed if your cat allows, cost will remain the same with or without a bath

  • Targets problem areas to remove or prevent matting while leaving the rest of the coat intact.
  • Shaved belly area from the front legs through to the hygiene area, a paw trim and bottom clip can be included.

BATH AND BLOW DRY

A bath and blow dry is just what your cat needs to reduce shedding, remove tangles, clean and deodorise. Includes nail trim and superficial ear clean.

Tangles, matt removal and de-shedding will incur addition charges.

DESHEDDING TREATMENT

As an add on with a bath and blow dry or Ventral/Hygiene groom.

Removes undercoat to dramatically reduce shedding but leaves the rest of the coat intact for WOW results. (Note: cats will shed their all year round – de-shedding treatment will reduce the amount of shedding left around the house and make your cat comfortable).

KNOT AND MATT REMOVAL

Additional fee may be charged when your cat is presented with matting or knots. Faecal removal surcharge may also apply.

NOTE: ALL CARE IS TAKEN WHEN SHAVING YOUR CAT. HOWEVER, SKIN TEARS AND IRRITATION MAY OCCUR WHEN FUR IS CLIPPED/SHAVED.

While you wait

  • Nail trim
  • Superficial Ear clean

Cat Grooming Frequently Asked Questions

We have years of experience working with all different kinds of animals and it is our goal to give your feline friend the most enjoyable, relaxed, positive pamper experience. Please read this information to help you prepare your cat for grooming.

Cats feel a lot better when they feel in control of their environment. Anything that interrupts their feeling of control can make cats unhappy. Over time this can raise your cat’s stress levels and lead to anxiety.

To feel in control, cats will carefully mark their home with "happy messages" (or pheromones). This happens each time a cat rubs its face against furniture or nuzzles against your legs.

We use Feliway spray and diffusers to help calm your cat in the salon. Feliway is a synthetic pheromone that can be sprayed onto surfaces or diffused into the room environment.

There is a safe easy to administer mild anti-anxiety oral medication which can be prescribed to your cat prior to their visit. This is advised for cats displaying a stress score of 3-4.

It is a prescription medication, and you will need to consult your vet before using. At Hot Dog Cool Cat we are next door to Sydney Animal Hospitals who are our veterinary partner and consult with our clients and their cats on our protocol and medication recommendations.

Cats which score a 5-6 may require a General Anaesthetic (GA) for grooming. Cats that require a GA are those that are too stressed, can put the groomer in danger of injury (bites, scratches) and those cats that are badly matted.

If your cat is known to be intolerant of the grooming process, even with our Fear Free Cat, protocols we recommend a general anaesthetic for grooming.

A full GA is conducted next door at Sydney Animal Hospitals, under the supervision of a vet and nurse, plus our cat groomer.

SAH policy is to use a full GA and not sedation, as a GA is more controlled, safer for the cat and has less complications than sedation alone.

At Hot Dog Cool Cat we are experienced and trained in advising the best options for your particular cat. Once your cat has a regular grooming visit and is known to our team, we will be able to customise the procedure to the individual.
